Amscot contributes to Boys & Girls Club of Pasco County
 
New Port Richey – Amscot held a grand opening on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006 at Branch No. 117 at U.S. Highway 19 and Floramar in New Port Richey. At the event, Amscot presented a $1,000 contribution to the Boys & Girls Club of Pasco County.

The Port Richey Branch of Boys & Girls Clubs provides hope and opportunity for more than 150 young people on a daily basis. It provides many diversified activities for all its members. The facility has two clubs on-site that jointly serve youth ages 6 to 17 years old. Building 1 is the “Youth Center” and Building 2 is the “Teen Center.” Amscot Financial’s contribution will support the arts program, which will enable youth of all ages to develop their creativity and cultural awareness.

Amscot contributes to Central Florida Children’s Home
ORLANDO – Amscot held grand openingn on Oct. 21, 2006 at Branch No. 102 at East Colonial and Goldenrod Road in Orlando. As part of the event, Amscot donated $1,000 to the Central Florida Children’s Home.
 

Central Florida Children’s Home, Inc., was founded in 1973 by Eastland Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Clyde F. Green. Its mission is to care for children whose parents either cannot or will not provide for them because of difficulties in their life and/or difficulties in the child’s life.

The Home takes in entire families of children, thus keeping siblings from being separated. A Christian atmosphere and “home” setting with a “mom and dad” give a secure environment and needed love. Academic achievement is emphasized to ensure that the children are well prepared for higher academic studies or vocational training for the job market. The children are assigned chores and responsibilities to help develop character and discipline. The Home strives to develop the children into productive and responsible citizens.

Amscot Financial contributes to Orlando-area foster group home
 
On Sept. 9, Amscot Financial held a grand opening at Branch No. 101 at 4986 W. Colonial Drive in Orlando. Amscot Financial presented a $1,000 contribution to Bridging Lives, Inc. of Orlando.

The Bridging Lives foster home in Ocoee is a two-year-old facility that accepts only girls who have been placed in the care of the state of Florida. Typically, the youth at the home range in ages from 12 to 17. The maximum occupancy at Bridging Lives is six young ladies at any given time. One of the home’s main goals is building independent living skills through training and services that prepare young teenaged girls for the transition to becoming productive adults.

Amscot Financial’s contribution will support girls who would like to further their education in order to become independent.

Amscot contributes to ACTION Inc.

Amscot held a grand opening on Saturday, September 23 at Branch No. 104 at 501 W. Orange Blossom Trail in Apopka. At the event, Amscot presented a $1,000 contribution to Apopka Coalition To Improve Our Neighborhood (ACTION, Inc.)

 

ACTION is a coalition of concerned citizens and organizations promoting the economic, social, and environmental development of South Apopka through coordination of volunteers, public and private sector resources, and serves as a central point for planning, coordination and implementation of community programs and act ivies ties. It is committed to developing a responsive community network among all participants.

ACTION’s goals are:

  • To assure that residents have the opportunity for self sufficiency through education, job training and employment. To assure that all residents are able to live with assurances of safety and security.

  • To assure that all residents' health and life threatening needs are met.

Amscot contributes to Down Syndrome Association
 
Amscot held a grand opening on Saturday, September 23 at Branch No. 104 at 501 W. Orange Blossom Trail in Apopka. Amscot presented a $1,000 contribution to the Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida.

Amscot’s contribution supports the Association’s Buddy Walk, scheduled for Oct. 21. The Buddy Walk is a national event created by the National

Down Syndrome Society 10 years ago to promote understanding and acceptance of all persons with Down syndrome.

The DSACF was founded in 1992 and works in collaboration with community hospitals, gynecologists, pediatricians and developmental disability groups to provide support, referrals and resources to families when they first learn their new baby has Down syndrome.

The DSACF serves Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake and Brevard counties. Amscot Financial’s contribution will be used to forward the mission and vision of the Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida as a leading voice for individuals with Down syndrome and their families.

Amscot contributes to La Amistad Foundation to benefit Orlando-area children and families
Amscot held grand opening on Saturday, October 7 at Branch No. 138 at 2033 Americana Boulevard in Orlando. At the event, Amscot presented a $1,000 contribution to La Amistad Foundation of Orlando.

The agency’s children's program focuses on unconditional positive regard for children in an environment that teaches structure, limits, and good behavior, integrating school and therapy. The program is designed to help develop positive relationships with children by using positive peer influence in small groups, rewarding positive behaviors. Amscot’s contribution will support the children’s program.

Amscot Financial presented a $1,000 contribution to The Hi-Tech Tutoring Center, Inc. a nonprofit computer-based corporation committed to providing after-school, computer-assisted tutoring in the basic skills of reading, writing, math and science to children, youths and adults. Founded in 1991 by Mrs. Ernestine Mosley, HTTC strives to instill in the students the desire to learn and to motivate them to achieve the highest possible levels of academic performance. While HTTC’s primary focus is on the basic skills necessary for success in school, the programs are designed to enhance the skill level of every enrolled student. As a result, many of the students are working to improve reading and math skills, but some are also gifted students working toward improved test scores in anticipation of college enrollment. The donation received from Amscot Financial will be used to purchase school supplies and educational software and to provide services for students who are unable to pay the nominal tutoring fees.
