Financial Services
What kinds of checks do you cash?
We cash personal checks, computer and handwritten payroll checks, insurance checks, Cashier’s checks, and government checks. We also cash money orders, traveler’s checks, and out-of-state and international checks.
Is there a check amount that you won’t cash?
No. We can cash a check of any amount.
What do I need to bring with me to cash a check?
A government issued, photo ID (i.e., driver’s license, military ID, passport).
What kind of fee would you charge to cash my check?
We have fee schedules posted in the lobby of each branch. Our fees are much lower than the maximum fees allowed by the state.
Do you have ATM’s located in your branches?
Yes, we are currently installing ATM machines in our branches. You can pull out cash in increments of $20 up to $300 with a minimal transaction fee.
Money Orders
How much do you charge for a money order?
We do not charge a fee for purchasing a money order – they are always FREE! We only ask for the face value of the money order.
Will you cash a money order?
Yes. We will cash any money order, for any amount.
Amscot Cash Advance
What do I need to bring with me in order to get an Amscot Cash Advance?
Proof of income (pay stub), checking account (checkbook), and a government issued, photo ID (i.e., driver’s license, military ID, passport).

Do you have a limit for how much I can receive on a cash advance?
You can receive a cash advance in increments of $50 starting at $50 all the way up to $500.

How do you decide what amount I will receive?
The computer determines the amount by reviewing your information, such as income.
How much does it cost?
10% of the amount advanced, plus a $1 state fee. For example, if you receive a
cash advance of $100, you will write a check for $111.00 for us to hold until your
next payday.

How long do I have before I am required to pay back my cash advance?
We hold your check until your next scheduled payday.

If I currently have a cash advance through another financial institution, can I get another one here?
No. The state only allows you to have one cash advance out at a time. In order to get a new cash advance, you must first pay off the outstanding cash advance at the financial institution it was issued at.
Western Union Wire Transfers

Can I send money to pay one of my bills?
Yes. Our locations offer wire transfers through Western Union.

What do I need to bring with me in order to use Western Union?
You will need to bring a government issued, photo ID (driver’s license, military ID, or passport). You will also need to provide your name, address, telephone number, date of birth, and identification number (employer identification number, Social Security number, driver’s license or passport number, etc.).
How much will it cost me to use Western Union?
Fees are determined at the terminal by Western Union at the time of the transaction.
The Amscot Prepaid MasterCard®
Is The Amscot Prepaid MasterCard a credit card?
No. The Amscot Prepaid MasterCard is a prepaid card with a spending limit equal to the amount of money loaded onto the card. Each time the card is used, the purchase or withdrawal amount is deducted from the available balance.
Where can the Amscot Prepaid MasterCard be used?
The Amscot Prepaid MasterCard can be used to make purchases everywhere MasterCard debit cards are accepted, at more than 23 million MasterCard merchant locations, as well as over 1 million ATM's worldwide.
Where can I get The Amscot Prepaid MasterCard?
The Amscot Prepaid MasterCard is available exclusively at all Amscot locations. You will be given a temporary prepaid card that can be used at ATMs and for merchant PIN purchases until you receive your personalized Amscot Prepaid MasterCard in the mail. This will usually take seven to ten days.
How do I load money onto my Amscot Prepaid MasterCard?
There are two ways you can load money onto your Amscot Prepaid MasterCard. You can go to any Amscot location to load money onto your Amscot Prepaid MasterCard. Or, if your employer offers direct deposit, you can elect to have your paycheck direct deposited onto your Amscot Prepaid MasterCard. You are allowed to load money onto your Amscot Prepaid MasterCard® up to 4 times within a 7 day period, for a total load value of up to $5,000.
How do I load my paycheck onto my Amscot Prepaid MasterCard by direct deposit?
Visit any Amscot and tell your Amscot associate that you want direct deposit on your Amscot Prepaid MasterCard. They will print a form that will include a routing number and direct access number, which you will give to your employer. In order for this to work, your employer must offer direct deposit.
Is there a limit as to how much value The Amscot Prepaid MasterCard can have?
Yes. The minimum value the Amscot Prepaid MasterCard can have is $10 and the maximum value is $5,000.
How much does The Amscot Prepaid MasterCard cost?
The Amscot Prepaid MasterCard costs $9.95. This includes the temporary prepaid card and The Amscot Prepaid MasterCard, embossed with your name, and carrying the MasterCard brandmark. For additional usage fees please see the Terms and Conditions.
Will I receive a statement?
You will not receive a statement by mail, unless you request one. You will be able to view all of your balance and transaction information for free on the web at www.amscotcard.com. You will also be able to review your transactions via phone by calling Cardholder Services at 866-516-1657, for a fee of $0.50 per call. If you would like a paper statement, you can request one from Cardholder Services, by calling 866-516-1657, or by visiting www.amscotcard.com. There is a fee of $1.50 for a paper statement.
What happens if I need to return an item purchased with my Amscot Prepaid MasterCard?
Each merchant location has its own return policies and will handle the returns in the same manner as any other MasterCard transaction. They may credit your Amscot Prepaid MasterCard, provide a cash refund, or a store credit.
What if a purchase is denied?
The card’s available balance is probably less than the purchase amount. You may inform the merchant of the remaining balance on the card and use another form of payment to pay the difference, subject to the policy of the merchant. Also, please be aware that use of The Amscot Prepaid MasterCard at some merchants — for example, restaurants, rental car agencies, mail-order companies, and cruise lines — requires the card have an available balance greater than the purchase amount to ensure sufficient funds for tips or incidental expenses. Use of the card at automated fuel dispensers requires a minimum balance of $30. However, only the actual amount spent will be deducted from the card.
Does The Amscot Prepaid MasterCard have an expiration date?
Yes. It expires 12 months from the purchase date, as indicated on the front of the card.
What happens if my Amscot Prepaid MasterCard is lost or stolen?
The Amscot Prepaid MasterCard provides 24-hour toll-free support. Immediately report any problems or a lost or stolen card by calling 1-866-516-1657. A replacement card will be issued and any available balance will be transferred to the new card. A $17.00 replacement card fee will be deducted from the card’s available balance. As long as the lost or stolen card is reported immediately, you will not be responsible for any unauthorized merchant charges.
Can the card ever have a negative balance?
Any authorization request that is greater than the card's available balance will be declined. However, there can be times when a merchant puts an item through without prior authorization. If a shortage occurs, the card recipient will be required to make a payment to cardholder services to cover the negative amount.

Prepaid Visa® Card - NetSpend

Do I have to fill out a credit card application in order to get a
prepaid Visa® Card ?

No. You purchase the card with a one-time fee ($9.95) and then load the card with a dollar amount. The prepaid Visa® Card functions as a debit card.

Can I use my prepaid Visa® Card for online purchases?
Yes. The prepaid Visa® Card is safe to use for online purchases.

Will I be able to ‘swipe my card’ and pay for gas at the pump or groceries at the store with my prepaid Visa® Card?
Yes. The prepaid Visa® Card functions just like a debit card.

Can I purchase a prepaid Visa® Card and then give it as a gift card to someone else?
No. The prepaid Visa® Card can only be used by the person who purchases
the card.

What are the fees for using my prepaid Visa® Card?
To load the prepaid Visa® Card, the fee is $1.50 for each load (the first time is free); when you make a purchase where you sign the sales slip, the fee is $1.00; when you make a purchase where you enter your PIN number, the fee is $2.00; balance inquiries are $.50 (balance inquiries are free if you check from the Internet).

Can I pull out money from an ATM with the prepaid Visa® Card?
Yes. You can use the prepaid Visa® Card at over one million locations world-wide.

How much money can I load onto my prepaid Visa® Card?
The limit is $2,500.00.

Is their a minimum amount of money I have load to load on my prepaid Visa® Card the first time I purchase it?
Yes you have to make a $10.00 minimum load your first visit.
Prepaid Wireless Minutes
Is there an activation fee for the prepaid wireless minutes?
No. There is no activation fee. Prepaid wireless minutes are similar to purchasing a long distance calling card that has a certain amount of minutes on it to use.

Is there a monthly bill for the prepaid wireless minutes?
No. You pay for the wireless minutes up front, load them onto your account, and then use them.

Is there an annual contract for the prepaid wireless minutes?
No, there is no contract to fill out. Prepaid wireless minutes are similar to purchasing a long distance calling card that has a certain amount of minutes on it to use. You pay for the wireless minutes up front, load them onto your account, and then use them.

Which providers do you sell prepaid wireless plans for?
Currently, we sell prepaid minutes for Verizon (Freeup), Cingular, AT&T (Free2Go), T-Mobile (EasySpeak), Tracfone, and CallPlus (Global).
Other Services
Can I bring in a document to be notarized?
Yes, each Amscot location has a certified Notary on-site. Be sure to bring your government issued, photo ID with you to conduct the transaction.

Can I send or receive a fax from an Amscot location?
Yes, you can send and receive faxes at every Amscot location. Note that we can only send or receive faxes domestically, not internationally.

Can I make copies?
Yes, you can make photocopies at each Amscot location.

Can I buy stamps and envelopes?
Yes, we sell stamps for face value and envelopes are 10 cents per envelope.

Can I pay my utility bills at an Amscot location?
You can make TECO (Tampa Electric Company), OUC (Orlando Utilities Commission), Florida Power & Light, and Progress Energy payments at any of our locations. Bring in your current monthly bill or account number and pay your bill quickly and easily.

Can I pay my cell phone bill at an Amscot location?
MetroPCS customers can now make payments at any of our locations. Bring in your current monthly bill or cell phone number and pay your bill quickly and easily. The fee is $3.00 per bill payment. Your payment will be credited to your account within 15 minutes.

Do you offer mail drops or postal services?
Coming soon to a location near you - mail drops serviced by the U.S. Postal Service. Also, full-service postal centers will be coming to participating Amscot locations in the near future.

Tax Services
What do I need to bring in for you to prepare my taxes?
You will need to bring all W-2 forms, a picture ID (driver's license), Social Security cards for you and all dependents you are claiming, last year's tax return, interest and dividend income statements, and proof of any unemployment income earned.

Do I have to pay for the tax preparation service up front?
No. All tax preparation fees are automatically deducted from your refund check.

How long does it take to get my money? When you file the standard way, your refund can typically take between 10-21 days to arrive. However, when you use Amscot, our Refund Anticipation Loan is by far the fastest way to get your tax money. As a matter of fact, nobody can get your tax money faster.
