We cash personal checks, computer and handwritten payroll checks, insurance checks, Cashier’s checks, and government checks. We also cash money orders, traveler’s checks, and out-of-state and international checks. |
Is there a check amount that you won’t cash?
No. We can cash a check of any amount. |
What do I need to bring with me to cash a check?

What kind of fee would you charge to cash my check?
We have fee schedules posted in the lobby of each branch. Our fees are much lower than the maximum fees allowed by the state. |
Do you have ATM’s located in your branches?
Yes, we are currently installing ATM machines in our branches. You can pull out cash in increments of $20 up to $300 with a minimal transaction fee. |
How much do you charge for a money order?
We do not charge a fee for purchasing a money order – they are always FREE! We only ask for the face value of the money order. |
Will you cash a money order?
Yes. We will cash any money order, for any amount. |
What do I need to bring with me in order to get an Amscot Cash Advance?
Proof of income (pay stub), checking account (checkbook), and a government issued, photo ID (i.e., driver’s license, military ID, passport). |
Do you have a limit for how much I can receive on a cash advance?
You can receive a cash advance in increments of $50 starting at $50 all the way up to $500. |
How do you decide what amount I will receive?
The computer determines the amount by reviewing your information, such as income. |
How much does it cost?
10% of the amount advanced, plus a $1 state fee. For example, if you receive a
cash advance of $100, you will write a check for $111.00 for us to hold until your
next payday. |
How long do I have before I am required to pay back my cash advance?
We hold your check until your next scheduled payday. |
If I currently have a cash advance through another financial institution, can I get another one here?
No. The state only allows you to have one cash advance out at a time. In order to get a new cash advance, you must first pay off the outstanding cash advance at the financial institution it was issued at. |
Can I send money to pay one of my bills?
Yes. Our locations offer wire transfers through Western Union. |
What do I need to bring with me in order to use Western Union?
You will need to bring a government issued, photo ID (driver’s license, military ID, or passport). You will also need to provide your name, address, telephone number, date of birth, and identification number (employer identification number, Social Security number, driver’s license or passport number, etc.). |
How much will it cost me to use Western Union?
Fees are determined at the terminal by Western Union at the time of the transaction. |
Is there an activation fee for the prepaid wireless minutes?
No. There is no activation fee. Prepaid wireless minutes are similar to purchasing a long distance calling card that has a certain amount of minutes on it to use. |
Is there a monthly bill for the prepaid wireless minutes?
No. You pay for the wireless minutes up front, load them onto your account, and then use them. |

Can I bring in a document to be notarized?
Yes, each Amscot location has a certified Notary on-site. Be sure to bring your government issued, photo ID with you to conduct the transaction. |
Can I send or receive a fax from an Amscot location?
Yes, you can send and receive faxes at every Amscot location. Note that we can only send or receive faxes domestically, not internationally. |
Can I make copies?
Yes, you can make photocopies at each Amscot location. |
Can I buy stamps and envelopes?
Yes, we sell stamps for face value and envelopes are 10 cents per envelope. |
Can I pay my utility bills at an Amscot location?
You can make TECO (Tampa Electric Company), OUC (Orlando Utilities Commission), Florida Power & Light, and Progress Energy payments at any of our locations. Bring in your current monthly bill or account number and pay your bill quickly and easily. |
Can I pay my cell phone bill at an Amscot location?
MetroPCS customers can now make payments at any of our locations. Bring in your current monthly bill or cell phone number and pay your bill quickly and easily. The fee is $3.00 per bill payment. Your payment will be credited to your account within 15 minutes. |
Do you offer mail drops or postal services?
Coming soon to a location near you - mail drops serviced by the U.S. Postal Service. Also, full-service postal centers will be coming to participating Amscot locations in the near future. |
What do I need to bring in for you to prepare my taxes?
You will need to bring all W-2 forms, a picture ID (driver's license), Social Security cards for you and all dependents you are claiming, last year's tax return, interest and dividend income statements, and proof of any unemployment income earned. |
Do I have to pay for the tax preparation service up front?
No. All tax preparation fees are automatically deducted from your refund check. |
How long does it take to get my money? When you file the standard way, your refund can typically take between 10-21 days to arrive. However, when you use Amscot, our Refund Anticipation Loan is by far the fastest way to get your tax money. As a matter of fact, nobody can get your tax money faster.
