We are proud of our continued association with Amscot Financial, a locally based financial services firm with offices throughout central Florida. Amscot is committed to building a better community and has focused significant efforts on supporting education as a means to achieve that goal. Ian A. MacKechnie, Executive Vice President, is an active member of the Foundation’s Communities In Schools committee, a development committee charged with raising funds for at-risk student programs. Amscot will proudly serve as the presenting sponsor for CIS’ annual Comedy Night event for the second consecutive year.

The company believes in extending their support of education throughout the communities they serve. During the month of August, Amscot will be running a promotion called Dollar for Schools in each of its store locations throughout the 15-county area the company serves. Customers will be asked to donate $1, which will then be matched by Amscot up to the first $10,000. Partnering with Amscot on this venture are the Consortium of Education Foundations, the Hillsborough Education Foundation and its Communities In Schools committee.

Amscot is also working on other promotions that will benefit students. They are repeating their highly successful bicycle helmet giveaway in five counties. In addition, they have just donated 100 computers to Computer Mentors Group, a program that provides computers to needy inner-city students free of charge.

We would like to thank Amscot for stepping up to support education both through their financial contributions and through MacKechnie’s personal participation on the Communities in Schools committee. Amscot…they’re more than okay with us!

Tampa Bay Area Law Enforcement – Annual Child Bike
Helmet Giveaway

Local law enforcement personnel ensure this little one gets the right fitting helmet!
Each year, Amscot Financial partners with Tampa Bay area law enforcement agencies to promote a heightened awareness on traffic safety, especially among our children. Amscot Financial's “Kids First” Program provides the bicycle helmets, with a total retail value of $150,000, at designated Amscot locations, while local law enforcement personnel help find the appropriate size for each of the youngsters and explain the importance of wearing the helmets every time they ride their bikes.

The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army - Bus Passes
Amscot Financial helped The Salvation Army purchase nearly 800 bus passes for their Transitional Housing Program. Clients of the Transitional Housing Program are working hard to become self-sufficient and the funds that Amscot provides for bus passes will be a huge help in their efforts to secure employment. Amscot’s generosity will also help ensure that these women and men have transportation to important appointments with doctors, lawyers and other social service providers in the community. These are important resources that certainly wouldn't have been as accessible without the support of Amscot Financial.

The Salvation Army - Back-to-School Supply Campaign
Amscot Financial provided The Salvation Army with school supplies for needy children to support their Back-to-School Supply Campaign. Each year, The Salvation Army of Hillsborough County’s Family Services Department helps meet the emergency needs of more than 2,500 families by assisting them with the payment of rent, utilities, medical prescriptions and other necessary expenses. Many of these clients are sent to The Salvation Army by other social service agencies that are unable to assist them. Most of the families served by Family Services would be considered ‘working poor,’ and their ranks include thousands of school-aged children. Many of these families struggle to pay their monthly bills, and little money is left over for extras such as school supplies for a new school year. By partnering with Amscot Financial, The Salvation Army was able to provide youngsters with some of the tools they need for a successful school year: 200 Writing Pads (lined notepads), 200 Calculators, 400 Highlighters, and
1,000 Pens.
